CIVIL ENGINEERING

Courses
Welcome to Civil Engineering Department

Civil Engineering is the broadest and the oldest branch of engineering. The scope of this branch involves various sub branches like Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Geo technical Engineering, and Construction Technology. Today's civil engineers are not only supposed to design new facilities but also analyze the effects of deterioration on infrastructure elements, consider system interdependencies and evaluate life-cycle impacts while also considering environmental and economic sustainability within the context of society.

The Department of Civil Engineering is a select group of students and faculty who are dedicated to work together to build a sustainable future through the development of civil infrastructure and the betterment of our global environment. We have a faculty who are dedicated to excellence in undergraduate teaching and are at the forefront of engineering research.

The Department of Civil Engineering at BHGCET was established in 2012. The department is well equipped with various laboratories like Strength of material, NON Destructive Testing, Concrete Technology, Transportation and Highway Engineering, Environment Engineering, Soil Engineering, Fluid mechanics and Advanced Surveying to develop sub skills to the upcoming engineers.

Department is also running a testing and consultancy cell which includes almost all scopes of Concrete Technology, Building Material, Geo-tech and Highway engineering. It is approved by Gujarat Government (R&B) and NABL (ISO 17025-2017).

About GTU & Vishwakarma Yojana

Gujarat Technological University is allotted important and prestigious project of Vishwakarma Yojana by the Government of Gujarat through Commissionerate of Technical Education for the year 2012-13. It is also proposed to frame “Vishwakarma Yojana” to provide the benefit of real world experience and simultaneously apply technical knowledge in the development of rural infrastructure planning & management by students of Gujarat Technological University. The contribution and the hard work put by the GTU students has made this project going on a smooth sail and indeed will be a huge success. sourse: http://www.vyojana.gtu.ac.in/

About Vishwakarma Yojana

About 70% of India’s population, or 750 million, live in its 600,000 villages. More than 85% of these villages are in the plains or on the Deccan plateau. The average village has 200-250 households, and occupies an area of 5 sq. km. Most of this is farmland, and it is typical to find all the houses in one or two clusters. Villages are thus spaced 2-3 km apart, and spread out in all directions from the market towns. The market centers are typically spaced 30-40 km apart. Each such centre serves a catchment of around 250-300 villages in a radius of about 20 km. As the population and the economy grow, several large villages are continually morphing into towns and market centers. Around 65% of the State's population is living in rural areas. People in rural areas should have the same quality of life as is enjoyed by people living in sub urban and urban areas. Further there are cascading effects of poverty, unemployment, poor and inadequate infrastructure in rural areas on urban centers causing slums and consequential social and economic tensions manifesting in economic deprivation and urban poverty. Hence Rural Development which is concerned with economic growth and social justice, improvement in the living standard of the rural people by providing adequate and quality social services and minimum basic needs becomes essential. The present Project deals with the same. The Next Two Billion People will live in cities and town; So We Need To Plan Now. Almost all future population growth in the next 40 years will be absorbed by cities of the developing world, which are unprepared for such rapid expansion. Planning needs to begin now to take advantage of the many benefits cities can offer. While cities concentrate poverty, they also provide the best means of escaping it. Cities have long been the engines of economic growth. Densely populated areas can be more environmentally sustainable than sprawling communities and allow for more efficient provision of services. The ideas, connections and activities in cities often generate the solutions to the problems they create.sourse: http://www.vyojana.gtu.ac.in/

BHATT ABHISHEK

Graduating from Gardi Vidhyapith lead me to grab the opportunity to be a part of the Second largest Civil Engineer company of Oman, i.e. Al Turki Enterprises LLC. I am now a Permit Holder-Civil and my job includes the construction of the Oil and gas pumping stations, which comes under Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO). Presently I am the focal point of precast yard of our company in the Harweel, Oman.

ABHISEK POKIYA

I did my BE from BHGCET in 2016 in very brief I would like to share my feeling with Gardi vidyapith. During this 4 years span the faculties of department inculcate me from a seed to tree.

RAKESH TRAPASIYA

I graduated from B.H.Gardi college in 2016 and right and I m enjoying my professional life just because of the policy of B.H.Gardi college and of course department of civil engineering of identifying and enhancing various skill of the students. Thank you my HOD and all my faculties for such a nice enhancement that I really feel and enjoying now.

VIKAS RAVAL

I'm currently pursuing my master's degree in construction technology from RKU. I value the qualities I learned at the civil department because of it being full with enthusiasm for important qualities and ethics of life which value beyond technical knowledge as technical knowledge is being served with great responsibility by default.

SAMPAT VIVEK

I want to share that Gardi College gives me a lot. Field visit & Expert lecture in every semester was helped very much. Various Techniques, Easy Methods & tricks is helpful during study time. Special Thanks to our Head of Department Shree V. N. Patel & all staff for their co-operation and support they had given. Through the support of them today I reached here. Through the events our technical and management skills improved. For this I am thankful our college to give such type of opportunity & responsibility worthy in future. The construction work like all medical hostels, general hospitals & maintenance work of health department of Govt. Of Gujarat is carried out by this department. I have to manage record of site execution and prepare estimates.
